 Mentorship Program

Learn more about the mentorship program used by The Freedom Ryderz

The U.S. Army Combat Readiness recently initiated the Army's "Own the Edge" campaign and Motorcycle Mentorship Program (MMP). The MMP is based on the formation of motorcycle clubs that allow experienced riders to pass on their knowledge, training, life experiences and learned safety skills to new motorcyclists. The clubs provide an outlet for Soldiers to safely enjoy the experience of owning a motorcycle, as well as teach them to ride safely. To find out more about Own the Edge, visit the USACRC website. For more information about the MMP and details on how to form a club on your installation, visit the Motorcycle Mentorship Program website.

The Freedom Ryderz motorcycle club is an active advocate of the Army's Motorcycle Mentorship Program. Several of our members are designated Mentors in their assigned units. All new riders who participate in this club will be assigned a mentor to help them develop their individual and group riding skills.

The Freedom Ryderz motorcycle club will support the Army's Motorcycle Mentorship Program

Are you considering the purchase of a motorcycle and looking for help in learning to ride safely ? Have you recently purchased a motorcycle ?

In both cases, our organization stands ready to assist you in learning how to safely operate the motorcycle, and in developing your riding skills.

As a member of our organization you can receive an assigned mentor who will help you every step of the way. You'll polish your individual riding skills and learn all the details of group riding. Mentorship will assist you in developing your skills.

The Freedom Ryderz Motorcycle Club has launched their initiative to establish a formal Motorcycle Mentorship Program, consistent with our stated goals and objectives.

Mentor Certification Training was conducted on Saturday, 17 February 2007, which provided a select group of well qualified members with the necessary training in the MMP Program. This extensive training consisted of a combination of classroom work, certification testing, and hands-on training.

The Freredom Ryderz is proud to lead the way with the Motorcycle Mentorship Program and provide a valuable resource to all of the tenant units on Fort Gordon, Georgia, and providing the model that other installations can use to quickly devlop their own programs.

A special thanks to our own club president, Mr. Ray Jones, for his dedicated spirit and the many many hours that he devoted to formalizing this program for our club.

The following members attended the Mentor Training Program, completed all other requirements, and been certified as Mentors :

  • Iaasc Peay
  • Russ Blandin
  • Dennis Yelverton
  • John 'Rocks' Baker
