Basic Rider Course
If you want to learn how to ride a motorcycle safely and responsibly, the BRC will provide the knowledge and training necessary. The 15 hour BRC, which consists of approximately 5 hours of classroom and 10 hours of on-cycle instruction, was developed by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) and has been successfully used for over twenty years in school, community and military education programs throughout the United States and foreign countries. Students will be taught how to start, steer, shift and brake under normal conditions; how to maneuver in traffic and even how to control the motorcycle during emergency situations. This class is an excellent "refresher" for basic skills! Students must furnish their own motorcycle for use in this class. The BRC is now the Army standard for motorycle safety training. THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR THIS COURSE.

New technology for motorcycle riders....Hit-air offers motorcycle jackets with built-in air bags. For more information, click on
http://www.hit-air.com. Motorcycle accident statistics are clear. Collisions, resulting from a rider being thrown from the motorcycle and impacting with the ground or crashing into an obstacle such as a guardrail, are the main reasons for deaths and serious injuries. More than 90% of these injuries are to the head, neck or chest. A helmet may protect the head but an impact to the helmet may also cause an injury to the neck. Hit Air, an airbag jacket for motorcyclists, now offers protection to the neck where various kinds of protection padding have been lacking. Protection is also provided for the front and the back of the body by a shock-buffering airbag system, offering riders additional protection during accidents. Company continues quest to develop innovative products to enhance riding safety.
Consider these actions to help prevent motorcycle crashes in general:
Speeding Kills - speeding negatively affects vehicle handling capabilities and reduces the rider's time to react to hazards.
Situational Awareness - understand the importance of maintaining situational and handling awareness while riding. Click here to see Motorcycle Safety, Section entitled "Follow These Rules" and You and Your Motorcycle: Riding Tips, page 18.
